Movado Museum Watches Collection: Affordable Luxury
Since the establishment of the Movado brand in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim, the Swiss company has been producing very interesting and appealing watches. Under Jeff Cohen, the CEO, one particular series has taken on the status as the symbol of the entire Swiss brand. This series is called the Movado Museum. There are many years of watchmaking history and experience backing the Movado Museum watches.
The Museum watches feature a solid black background. There are no minute or hour markings on the watch, leaving just the hands and a small indentation on the 12 o'clock mark. The design of the hour and minute hands are extremely simple. Overall, the Movado Museum watches are clean and classy. In all, the only color outside of black, brown, or white on the entire watch is located on the casing, the hands, and the indentation. Everywhere else, which would be the background and the strap of the watch, is black, brown, or white depending on the watch you have selected. These watches are available for both genders for as low as a few hundred dollars apiece. These Museum watches will never hit prices over $1000 any time soon.
The very first Movado Museum watch was presented at the Museum of Modern Art. The first wrist watch on display at the organization, this watch was designed by Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Since then, the Movado Museum line of watches has built a look that is uniform: the color choices described above, the use of sapphire crystal, and a light weight. Since the first release of the Movado Museum line, a total of 40 watches have been released as a part of the collection. The majority of the 40 watches have a black background, but there are a few with silver, brown, or white instead. Most of the watches have leather straps.
The Museum look has definitely spread to the rest of the Movado collections. For example, all ten watches in the Movado Esperanza collection carry simple hour and minute hands, a solid color background, the single indentation at 12 o'clock, and the lack of any markings otherwise. As mentioned before, the Movado Museum look as become a standard among all of the newer releases by the Swiss brand.
Over 125 years of watchmaking and timepiece creation has come down to a single collection, the Movado Museum collection. Out of all the releases by this Swiss brand over the years, none has had so much influence. It's no wonder, too, because every Museum timepiece carries the same clean look that makes the money all the more worth it. At prices considered relatively affordable when compared to other luxury brands, Museum watches should be an easy choice if you're looking for a great watch.
